I am going to present my reflections about the role of school a teacher in the society.
Reflecting about teaching and learning English in contemporary times I think it means a disconnection between past and present both teachers and students. Nowadays, teachers in general, who have deep knowledge about the language but, superficial knowledge about how to deal with technology. Most of them have no training about how to use and teach with computers. The problem is the union between contents and technology. Besides that the access to the computer laboratory is still limited.
Analyzing the learner behavior, we can see many of them with great abilities to use the computer but they don’t know how to explore information/knowledge in books or even on computers.
Besides that, schools are places that we have to bring the whole world inside them. The students have to learn subjects, issues they can use in their lives as citizens, as a person.
They should have the opportunity to live different experiences and to participate in different kinds of contexts and culture. Plus the fact, that they would know more about their own culture and others, too. And another thing is through their learning they are inserted in the society.
Finally we have to be prepared to deal with different kinds of information and teach our students how to choose and to use all the information we give them.
